Hello Reader, As Spring emerges, we’ve been busy as bees at LadyBug EarthCare with -
We are also super excited to be working with a new company called Meadow Lab. One of our exciting new projects this spring is the installation of their wondrous product: Meadow SOD. Yes, you saw that right -it's sod, but seeded, sprouted and ready to bloom this summer, with native plants! Reply if you are interested in this cutting-edge new product (pun-intended)! I also want to share a few things happening around here, both locally and virtually, to keep you informed, growing and taking mindful action on things that matter to us all, as Nature lovers. Spring EarthCare Calendar of Events & Resources 📅 April 22 | Earth Day! This year, the theme of Earth Day is “Our Power, Our Planet.” We can’t change the world alone, but environmental progress is built through everyday practice. Our local, community-led actions are the most resilient response to the global shifts. I hope the resources and events shared in this email give you options to plan ahead and make a real impact for the Earth this year, not only on one day. It is also the week between our workshop and Q&A where I will invite you to ponder in Nature, metabolize, and begin to define your ecological impact goal <3 📅 April 30 | Plan Your EarthCare Journey Q&A (part 2) Immerse yourself in a supportive environment with guidance, space to reflect and journal, breakout rooms to connect with other Nature lovers, and opportunities to share your unique perspective with the group, so we can all learn and be inspired by each other. Choose your ecological impact goal, release who you think you should be to make space for who you are in your honest capacity, I’ll share my #1 tip for making it all work, and receive coaching in a Q&A help you solidify your plan. → Register for the 2-part workshop and Q&A 🌱 2026 Plant Sale Directory from Penn State Find a Penn State Master Gardener plant sale this growing season to source your annuals, perennials, vegetables, native plants, herbs, and other supplies. 🤝 Get Your “Invasive” Plant Replaced for FREE in PA! Replace up to three “invasive” trees and shrubs with native species for free with the statewide Pennsylvania Invasive Replace-ive Program. If you're on a tight budget, and have some burning bush or boxwoods to remove, this is your chance. Note: As you may know, I put "invasive" in quotes because I don't think it's a good word, but it's how these aggressive, non-native species are being labeled, and I do support removing them - as long as we never use their presence to justify chemical warefar against plants. That is against the EarthCare Code of Ethics, and life itself. so take advantage of this opportunity to get a replacement, and be sure to resist any recommendations of chemical use on your landscape! → Learn about the Invasive Replac-ive Program here 🗣️ Make Your Voice Heard: Public Hearing on Water Withdrawal from Susquehanna River Constellation Energy is asking to pull up to 73.2 million gallons of water per day from the Susquehanna River to support the Three Mile Island nuclear plant, including 21 million gallons that won’t be returned to the river (“consumptive use”). 15 other projects will be discussed, including water bottling plants, quarries, and meat processing facilities, that ask to renew or begin drawing water from local wells and creeks. Join the hearing on April 23 at 5:00pm at 4423 North Front Street in Harrisburg, PA. If you can’t make the meeting, you can submit your thoughts online or by mail until May 4, 2026. This is an opportunity to speak up and bring your concerns about how these withdrawals will affect our local ecosystems, wildlife, and the health of the river. 🪨 NEW: First and only underground state park in PA (Laurel Caverns) I love this news! Caves are so cool! And PA is filled with them! If you’re looking to visit some local state parks, there is a new underground state park with 426 acres of mountainous terrain, showing off the largest calcareous sandstone cavern system in Pennsylvania. My hope is that this gives you lots of ways to engage, and stay connected to Nature in your Place. I share even more like this (and stories you can see here) in my weekly newsletter: EarthCare Matters - learn more here if that appeals to you. And if you have local friends who would love to have this list, just forward this email to them and remind them to join this list by clicking the link at the bottom! Thank you - sharing is caring! Did someone forward you this email? Subscribe here. Sunday afternoon I found myself on a chicken rescue mission with some local friends. They’d gotten too hot in the sudden spike of weather this weekend, and needed to be relocated to a cooler area… without shocking them into heart-attacks. One by one, we gently carried these 40+ panting birds into deeper shade, cupping handfuls of water at their beaks, to offer them a drink (which was relieving to watch being slurped up). Most of them made...
I'm going to send more emails than usual April 30- May 18, to share my new program, The EarthCare Journey. They will be educational and fun, not just promotions. If you don't want to hear about this program again, just click here to OPT-OUT of this type of email, but stay on my newsletter, or other lists you like. Thank you! There is a common experience happening within many of us right now, Reader. Often we call it overwhelm, anxiety, or a persistent sense that all is wrong with the state of...
Did someone forward you this email? Subscribe here. Hey Reader, Today I want to tell you about one of the most powerful practices I know. It doesn’t require a yard, knowledge, equipment, or expertise, and it doesn't cost you anything. It asks only that you show up, sit down, and stay a little while. It’s called a Sit Spot. And this is how we do it (did anyone else hear Montell Jordan in that? lol) - Choose a place where you can see and hear the natural world: in the forest, under a single...
