Today I want to acknowledge the insanity of the world (especially many of our leaders), and speak to the the grief and overwhelm we are all carrying. It's a lot. It's heavy and intense. A lot of it is soul-crushing. I used to live in a very dark place, internally, back when I first realized what the leaders of the world were up to - when I also believed the lie that the human species was like a cancer on this planet, just expanding empires, consuming resources, and devouring each other with so little regard to life. But that's not the whole human story. The majority of humans all through time are exactly the opposite of that. Realizing that we are part of Nature, a beautiful creation born of love, and the perfect solution to the problems we create (if we remember our true nature), changed my life. This is the new and ancient story, Charles Eisenstein talks about. The old story, the way our leaders have run the world into ruins, is collapsing. Spring is a time rich with potential, and it's more important than ever to plant seeds of HOPE in "the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible." Don't let anyone tell you it's not possible. Spring also teaches us that collapse offers space for new realities to emerge. And if we, who are relatively safe in our homes right now, don’t continue to hold the vision for a better world, and don’t use our time wisely to make real, tangible steps to build that world into reality... ...who will? This is our time. This is our responsibility. This is our ecological role. AND, dear Reader - Spring invites us into this role, as if it's a dance, an awakening, a shedding of winter, with delight. It is the perfect time for -
… all of which can feel extra hard, while juggling the polycrisis. It's important to slow down, sit with our feelings, ideally with song, dance, story or silence (the 4 universal healing salves, according to Angeles Arrien, PhD), and from that grounded place we can take more solid steps toward real, tangible impact. This is why we have the EarthCare Compass. To help us find our way. This tool helps us navigate from awareness (which often causes overwhelm) into CONNECTION, before we take action, so that beneficial impact is possible. Connection is the missing piece, round the world, Reader. When the headlines get loud and the state of the world feels heavy (awareness-overload), I invite you to remember the wisdom of Pema Chodron: "start where you are" (in your Place) and lean into the power of connection and relationships. Learn more about how to use the Compass here in this Free Intro to EarthCare Audio Class. I will show you how to use it to move through overwhelm, at the end of this list! 2026 Spring EarthCare Resource CollectionYou don't need to do all of the things, Reader. As you look through everything I've shared here, I invite you to use the EarthCare Compass to choose what you want to read, explore or do. Are you stuck in awareness-overload? Move into connection. You will find your way. The question to ask yourself is: "who and what can I genuinely build a relationship with?" Start there, not with the biggest action, but with the deepest connection available to you right now. That's where real change begins, and it ripples outward in ways we can't always predict or measure. And if you feel confused around how to do that, I am offering guidance in 2 free live workshops this month. Stay wild and wide-eyed - there is beauty all around, Kendra P.S. What are you curious about? What new stories are you ready to grow together? Which plants are coming up in your Place? I’d love to see! Feel welcome to reply to this email with photos to celebrate the season of Spring. Written by a human - Kendra Marie Hoffman

Did someone forward you this email? Subscribe here. Sunday afternoon I found myself on a chicken rescue mission with some local friends. They’d gotten too hot in the sudden spike of weather this weekend, and needed to be relocated to a cooler area… without shocking them into heart-attacks. One by one, we gently carried these 40+ panting birds into deeper shade, cupping handfuls of water at their beaks, to offer them a drink (which was relieving to watch being slurped up). Most of them made...
I'm going to send more emails than usual April 30- May 18, to share my new program, The EarthCare Journey. They will be educational and fun, not just promotions. If you don't want to hear about this program again, just click here to OPT-OUT of this type of email, but stay on my newsletter, or other lists you like. Thank you! There is a common experience happening within many of us right now, Reader. Often we call it overwhelm, anxiety, or a persistent sense that all is wrong with the state of...
Did someone forward you this email? Subscribe here. Hey Reader, Today I want to tell you about one of the most powerful practices I know. It doesn’t require a yard, knowledge, equipment, or expertise, and it doesn't cost you anything. It asks only that you show up, sit down, and stay a little while. It’s called a Sit Spot. And this is how we do it (did anyone else hear Montell Jordan in that? lol) - Choose a place where you can see and hear the natural world: in the forest, under a single...
